Hi all
is there anyone check 3d warpage by F10 (check elems panel) with profile NASTRAN
why warpage is indicated by '<' instead of '>' as in other user profiles???
(version hypermesh 12.0)
Hi Tinh,
Nastran calculates warpage differently, see Nastran Manual about face warp coefficient.
Ideal value is 1, and 0 is bad. So ‘<’ is correct .

Hi,
I thought 3d warpage is calculated same as 2d warpage
Thanks

No, with profile Nastran, warpage of 3D element is calculated only for quad faces.
HM will divice quad face in two trias and compute the cosinus of angle between trias's normal. So the best value is 1.0 (angle=0°, cosinus=1).
However, foreach 3D element (with several quad faces) HM gives only one value of warpage, but I don't know how this value was computed. Minimal value ? Average value ?
I can't found detailed explains in help doc.

Hi Mr Quy
I just wonder why in nastran 3d warpage is not calculated same as 2d quad element (=diflection / diagonal)
