detail lines in excluded area are being returned as results
i'm using Monarch 15.4.0.9886 right now. I have a payroll report where I have an append template to pick up the employee names. All good there. The detail template picks up the payroll data that I need. But I am getting totals included with the last employee and we don't need those. No data on the append line matches, but the detail data is still returned. I set up an exclusion template which is defined, but I thought the detail in that area would be excluded but it is not.
Employee Number/Name: 00-0000207 person name APPEND LINE
000001 Regular 0.00 0.00 0.00 DETAIL LINE
Employee 00-0000207 Total: 0.00 0.00 0.00
Department Recap THIS IS WHAT IS EXCLUDED
000001 Regular 2,819.04 93,638.72 2,785.24 DETAIL NOT NEEDED
000002 Overtime 9.00 367.67 3.25 DETAIL NOT NEEDED
000003 Regular Plus 0.00 0.00 0.00 DETAIL NOT NEEDED
Department 00 Total: 2,828.04 94,006.39 2,788.49
The detail lines look the same as the real detail so I can't define the detail template so it would exclude them. What can I do to get the totals excluded?

Hi Gale,
Nice to meet you. You could just filter out the totals. You can create a filter to exclude the filter, in either Monarch Classic or Data Prep Studio. Would that work? Here's a screenshot of how to do it in Data Prep Studio. If you want to do it in classic it will require a few more steps, but it can be done.

Two thoughts based on the sample shown:
1) Add a footer template that captures the total line and then filter out the lines that contain the word Department.
or
2) Try using the start/end region templates to start on the employee region and then stop on the department recap. I would need to see more data to know if this would be viable or not. You can only have one start and one end region template, but if they are set up correctly, you could effectively tell Monarch which sections of the report you are trying to capture from.

Hi Gale,
Create an exclusion template select the following line as a sample:
Department 00 Total: 2,828.04 94,006.39 2,788.49
and trap it by Department 00 Total:
The exclusion template is quite useful for excluding a single line or multiple lines in the report, specially when the report contains total values which the detail template can pick up data in the total section of the report.
