Dear Altruist,

It would be grateful to have the answers of my following questions:

  • Could you please help to know how to discretize the dipole wire into several segments in order to obtain a good plot of your current distribution.
  • To avoid meshing errors, how can I set segment radius to be smaller than the segment length.
  • How can I discretize a plates into triangular patches.

Your response will be highly appreciated.

Thanking You,

Golap

Once the frequency is specified, Feko automatically meshes the wires into segments and surfaces into triangles. The default "standard" mesh refers to a segment length and triangle edge length of Lambda/12, where lambda is the wavelength at the highest specified frequency. For the segment radius, you can change it to whatever you want through the 'modify mesh' option.

    Hello Gopinath,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Do you know how to customize the segments to discretize the dipole wire cz in the create mesh settings tab I cant see any option like that. The available options are wire segment length, wire segment radius, triangle edge length.  Please check the attachment.

Additionally, may I know how to calculate the simulated radiation resistance, overall antenna reactance and how can I plot current magnitude distribution along the dipole in Feko.

    Thank You.

I don't understand the question on discretizing the dipole wire. As explained, Feko discretizes the wires into segments of certain radius by default (that is how wires are meshed in Feko). When you say customization, I'm guessing you want the segments to be of certain length, which you can do through the mesh settings. If you have multiple wires and they need to be meshed differently, you can apply local mesh on each of them (select the wire from the details section, right click, properties, meshing tab).

Regarding the radiation resistance, Feko automatically calculated the input impedance when you add an excitation. You can plot this in POSTFEKO through 'source data'. The real part of of input impedance in your radiation resistance and the imaginary part is the reactance.
