How to start a new model from the output of another simulation

Hi,

I'm doing simulation of various steps of a process. I would like to know if it is possible to use the last step of one simulation to create the first step of a new simulation, in order not to have the whole history in the new simulation.

Thanks

Vincent

    Hi Vincent,

There are different approaches for this.  Firstly in the EDEM Analyst you can browse to the time-step you want (usually the last save point) and then go to File > Export  > Simulation Deck and choose to save this as a new simulation.  So it then saves a new file and you can also in the export set time to 0 and reset things like factories if required.

In other ways of transferring data you can save a material block and just transfer this material block from 1 simulation to another, this can be set to be created just once or dynamically if you want to repeatedly input the output of one simulation as the input to another in a cyclic/pulse form.

For more information on the block factory functionality please see the e-learning which you can find here:

The "EDEM Creator - Material bed generation" lesson and the "EDEM Creator - Material Block Dynamic Factory" lesson both give an overview of this method.
