The difference between PBEAM and PBEAML?

PBEAML calculates section properties based on selection from a predefined library of geometric cross-sections, while PBEAM requires user to input the section properties (A, I1, I2, J, etc.) directly.

Why in both case I need to define beam section? Can I just define section properties in PBEAM?
