How to convert multiple element type to single element type in a domain
Hello everyone,
I have a HyperMesh model file (.hm) with a domain meshed using CHEXA and CPENTA elements (see picture below).
I need to have only CHEXA elements in the domain.
I have attached .hm file for your reference.
Can anyone help me achieve this?
Thanks,
Anoop

Hi Anoop,
To get all hexa elements on the top face of the component you need to mesh the top surface with only quad mesh then use line drag options in solidmap to generate the mesh.

But this is a model file (.hm) Is it possible to mesh the surface with CHEXA and later line drag option?

If you have the geometry available then you can mesh the surface with only quad mesh and then drag those elements along the thickness direction.
May be you can watch the below video on solid modelling.

I don't have geometry file.
I am using model file (.hm) from this example0 -
I don't have geometry file.
I am using model file (.hm) from this exampleWithout surface also this can be done. You need to extract face and delete the middle solid elements which you want to have only hexa. Then remesh the top elements face which you extracted in previous step , make sure to have only quad element. Then with drag option you can generate the hexa mesh. Use the node path option while dragging so that you will have connectivity with rest of the elements.

How to extract the faces and delete the middle solid element and re-mesh the created faces.
Since I am new to Hypermesh It would be helpful if explained step by step.0 -
Hello @Anoop Nanjanayanapura Gopalaiah ,
in addition of @Rajashri Saha 's answer, the new user interface propose a new algorithm called thin solid that could help for such cases:
Hope that helps,
Michael

Hypermesh has options for extracting face, Delete command, remesh.
