Rendering Tyre Tread In Evolve

Hey guys,

Can anyone give me some tips on the best way to render a tread on a tyre in Evolve? I've tried using a material with the tread as a bump map but it doesn't come out deep enough.

I've also tried a displacement map but it gets very strange results even though the texture appears to be positioned correctly.

I've tried a pixel map too which works ok but the tread is very coarse/jagged and it doesn't seem to have a high enough resolution.

I've attached a sample file and tread texture. Any tips or example files would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers, Brett.

    BrettL,

I think the smoothness value for your pixel map was set to 10 and this negates any sampling resolution set. Even though you had 500x47 samples, a smoothness value of 10 will revert it.

Please change the smoothness to 0 and you should achieve the desired results. Attached is what I achieved using this method.
