HyperView Crashing on h3d Open

Have been having this issue for a few days.

Hypermesh has been crashing whenever I try to view any h3d output file that contains element density information from a topology optimization analysis. Upon changing the iteration number to anything beyond 0, the software hangs and does not recover after loading the element density information in contour plotting mode.

I was hoping to extract STL files or screenshots for some reports I am preparing. Currently resorted to using screenshots and altering them in Photoshop...

Using a Windows 10 computer with the newly-released Anniverary Update. Not sure if this might have something to do with it....

Any thoughts?

Hi there,

It turns out to be a bit of a bug in HyperView that is not based on operating system.

Talked to other users of the software in our group who are using it on Linux. And they have the same problem ( I encountered the problem in windows)

The workaround to preventing a crash seems to be the following:

Use the 'arrows' to the left of the Iteration dropdown menu instead of using the arrow to the right of the iteration menu. If the arrow to the right is used while a contour plot is active, the program hangs and must be killed through a system process manager.

Again, this problem is not dependant on Operating System.

I want to know about the version of Hyperview. Latest version is 14.0 and latest patch is 14.0.120.

Based on that we can comment whether it was reported bug & fixes.

Have you tried after deleting the settings files ?

if needed please change the working directory, also let us know the operating system and the graphics card details (update graphics card to the latest driver)
