Preloading a direct transient analysis

Hi,

We are modelling a car driving on a road and after a while it hits a bump in the road. To do this we are using a direct transient analysis since we know all forces working on the car during the load case. At the start of the simulation, the car is driving at 90 km/h and all stresses should be in balance. Therefore we set up a static load case that determines the stresses, strains,... for that balance situation and we use it as a statsub(preload) for the direct transient analysis. This is visible in the picture below.

However when we run this analysis and look at the results, the first time step for the transient analysis had no deformation or no stresses. However since we set up the preload for the balance situation, we are expecting to see the transient analysis to start from the stresses,... in this balance situation.

Is there anything we are doing wrong or do you know how we can fix this problem so that the preload is taken into account correctly?

Kind regards,

Jeroen

Please refer attached screenshot from the documentation of OptiStruct for Prestressed analysis results.

    Hi,

have you solved this problem? I have encountered this similar problem
