Composite Crack Modelling and Analysis

Hi, 

 

I am looking into composite modelling of different crack orientation (30 deg, 45deg, etc...) and analysis of crack propagation using HyperMesh for my final year project.

I would like to know if HyperMesh is capable of doing it and if yes, can anyone guide me with links to the appropriate modelling steps for crack analysis, please ?

RADIOSS-XFEM can be used for the same.

 

With XFEM only 2-D elements are compatible with properties:

/PROP/SHELL (single layer)

/PROP/SH_SANDW (multi layer)

/PROP/TYPE51 pointing to /PROP/TYPE19 (multi layer)
