Hello

1. Is there any way to model the effect of phase change material (PCM) for battery thermal simulation?

2. There is an option to define latent heat under material properties. However, which material details should be selected; solid or liquid?

Regards,

Subodh

    Hi Subodh,

Yes, there is a way to model the PCM material in Altair SimLab using appropriate material definition in conjunction with the porosity model feature within the AcuSolve solver. The idea here is adjust the porosity of the material based on the temperature.

Please see this tutorial on how to implement such a material model to simulate PCMs.

For PCMs, use the fluid category to define the latent heat.
