Assigning local coordinate system

I have created a series of seperate areas of membrane elements on a standard tet4/tet10 model. I am trying to assign each of them a n individual unique local system so that I can collect data from the nodes/elements in the particular orientations. I thought I had done it, but then the membrane elements all dropped their material properties and the model no longer runs. Can anyone offer me assistance or a walkthrough on how to?

how do you have assigned your local coordinate system?

A way is to use Menu->Mesh->Assign->Node Analyses System... and press set displacement.

 

Normaly it is enough to do this in Hyperview. You can create systems and use the option Resolved in: User system (proj: xxxx) (xxx is a nice option for projections)

Now you get your results in the created system (displacements, stress components, etc...) You can also use systems defined in Hypermesh in the same way!!
