I m completely a new user of optimization. Pl let me now how to fix the following error
RROR # 1800: Stress/strain/force response is applied to
topology domain.
For stress-constrained topology optimization, please
use STRESS option on topology design variable definition.

How have you defined the optimization constraint? This seems to suggest that your opitimization is using Property 5 and this is connected to a Stress based constraint. However, it looks like you haven't defined the Stress on the design variable (DESVAR) card. Can you post the design input from the model?

I am also looking for the answer of this question. I am very new to optistruct. I wanna use stress as constrain for topology optimisation. I am getting same error. I have defined
analysis--> optimisation-->topology-->parameter-->stress-->defined my allowable(420MPa).
analysis-->optimisation-->response-->staticstress->vonmises
I used this response as dconstrain-->upperbound-->for the all loadstep.
I am getting same error as the dhiren getting. If anyone know the answer pls post.

are you taking the volume fraction into account for response?
or else it wont accept the problem ,plz give compliance as your design objective

When doing topology optimization stress constraint can be applied through analysis--> optimisation-->topology-->parameter-->stress-->defined my allowable.
Stress constraint defined on a stress response using the method below is not possible for topology optimization.
analysis-->optimisation-->response-->staticstress->vonmises

It is always better to give compliance or vol or volfrac as response. If you give stress as constraint it is not necessary that you have to give response as stress.

This means use Stress constraint through DTPL card. Goto Topology panel>> Parameters>> Stress constraint (See the image below)
