    Hello @neelc14

The reason for the error could be one of the below:

1)You are using Shell elements (CQUAD4) and you are not using using a PSHELL property

    2) You did not assign a property to elements/components.

Create a PSHELL property for shell elements and assign to respective components/elements and try again.

    Neelc14,

The same file works for me without any errors.

Changes done:  Moved all elements from Iv01 to Core component. Attaching out file and result file.

    HI Prayesh,

Sorry for the late reply but how do I move the elements from lv10 to core component?

    Thanks, Neel

Hi, Sorry I was able to move all the elements across but when I try to open this model in hyperview it comes out with a 2d geometry, I have attached pictures. I don't understand what the problem is? Any help would be great thanks.

    Hi Neelc14,

Not sure why you have constrained 1 and 3 dofs at end, try to constrain all Dofs instead and run the analysis.

Hi Prayesh, I was replicating 3 point bending does this not mean constraning 1 and 3 at the ends? Is this why it is coming out in 2d in hyperview?

    Hi Neelc14,

Yes, try constraining 2 and 3 on both sides instead of 1 and 3.

    Hi Prayesh,
Sorry I have one more question, I have run the optistruct analysis and all seems to be fine. But I want to plot the results in a graph with the load in the middle varying from 1000N to 5000N, how would I do this? Because I can't seem to find any help or tutorials and nor do I know what software to use?
    Any help would be great

It says that to plot a graph using Hypergraph I must import a Data file but I have no DAT files only OUT files and this doesn't produce any graphs?

what type of analysis you have performed?Static or Dynamic. If it is dynamic then you need to request output in particular format.

I have performed an optistruct analysis? I dont know if that is static or dynamic?

From loadstep you would get to know about Analysis type? If only static load then..Force Vs Displacement would be represented as straight line & if it is Dynamic then you would get plot for Time/Freq vs Displacement.

Hi, I am having a similar problem again when I try to run an optistruct analysis. I have changed the degrees of freedom so they are equal on both sides and also when they are different on both sides but this still happens when i try to find the displacement in the y plane. Any help would be great.

    Hi @neelc14

I am sorry, can you explain the problem a little in detail, please?

You have the load acting in Z-Direction, is that correct?

Yes I have the load acting in the z direction, I am replicating three point bending again but have changed the materials which are used in the composite test pieces. But when I do optistruct analysis and look at the displacement in both the y and z direction nothing comes up and it looks like the screenshot above.

So, you don't see any displacements in Z direction as well?

Can you share the updated Model file?

    Hi,

You just plot for the plate elements. Hide the RBE and plot for rest of the elements in Y and X direction.

I think the results makes sense as you have constrained all 3 directions on one end and X and Z on other end, there is displacement in Y direction seen.

    Hi,

You can use Mask option in HyperView to hide elements.

Once you hid the RBE elements, go back to contour panel and change the entity selector to Elements instead of components and plot results to displayed elements.

Hi, I am receiving an error when I try to run an optistruct analysis of this model but I don't know why because I have moved all the elements from lv10 to core. The following error is shown below:

    Hi @neelc14

Property is missing or an incompatible property is assigned to CQUAD4 elements which you moved to core.

Kindly check and update the property.

Hi, I have checked and updated all the properties but I still seem to find what the problem is?

I have attached the model file, any help would be great! Sorry I am very inexperienced in this software.

    @neelc14

    I updated the model, PFA.

MAT8 is not compatible with PSOLID elements for core. Use MAT9 or MAT9ORT instead and run again.
