The enhancement of RIS to indoor WIFI signal was tested in Winprop
Hi all,
As mentioned in the title, I have recently been working on the prediction of the auxiliary channel power of the RIS in the indoor environment. I've tried to simulate RIS using the Consider RCS information from Altair's Proman. But it doesn't work well, so how do I import my RIS into Proman or Wallman?

Hi 弛 张,
The support of bistatic RCS (computed in Feko) has been recently added (v.2024.0) for the wave propagation in WinProp for a single incidence direction. Based on this the impact of a RIS element on the radio coverage can be analyzed to a first extent.
If you are using a previous version, you might have seen that only monostatic RCS was supported.
Using this approach the multipath in the area before the RIS elements is not accounted for, but we typically assume there is LOS between the base station and the RIS elements, so that multipath is not expected to have a significant impact.

Thank you very much for your reply! I'm using the previous version of the software, which means that I was right to use RCS in Proman to simulate RIS. However, for the sake of simplicity, I first simulated the RCS of the PEC, importing it into a piece of glass of the same size. Curiously, the field strength on the reflection path decreases after import. Since I am new to Winprop, where should I find the learning materials for this project? Thanks again!

You are welcome.
Monostatic RCS is not useful for this case. Please update and use the bistatic RCS.
Can you please share your zipped project (ProMan, File> Export > Export Project as Zip archive) and the file used for the RCS input? I don't get clearly your model.
Best Regards,

Sorry for the busy luggage these two days.
Not sure what's going on, my export file has 262M so the attachment won't upload. This is a simple model, and I have attached a picture of the results and an imported RCS file.
I've updated to the 2024 version, if I keep the angle of the antenna to the center of the RIS consistent with the angle of the imported bistatic RCS, will I theoretically get the correct result?
Best wishes
