I am doing a frequency analysis looking for the natural frequency of a casting. Due to the geometry neither surfaces nor hex meshing is really doable. I want to know what pitfalls I should look out for when performing a normal modes analysis with a tetramesh. I did a first run and got a frequency that was 1/5th of what I expected.

you may try shrinkwrap option for complex solids, hexmesh is possible in it, but be careful to adjust your element sizes and jacobian value. if your system has some memory try with small element size and very very small jacobian value. make some tries and see the results.
