DUPLICATION OF COMPONENTS
Hi guys,
do you know if the Components can be copied or duplicated?
In case there is an option,
- what happens with the properties applied?
- has the new duplicated component the original properties or it's just a 'blank' copy of the original elements?
I'm working with a model with some symmetric geometry (but not all), and it would be very helpful to make a duplication of one component and then make the symmetry, but keeping elements and properties.
Thanks in advance!

I don't think that you can copy a component. Why not creating a new component and then trying Tool-->translate, select the elements you want to 'translate' and then apply translation (without duplicating the original elements). You will have your elements copied and associated with your new component. You can use 'zero' translation too. Then reflect your copied elements (Tool-->reflect) and once they are placed to the desired position, use organize to place the elements to the original component. If the original component is associated with a material and a property it will automatically update your newly created elements.
I hope this is what you were looking for.

If I were you, I would create a new component (let's say ' component y') and by editing it you could say 'properties and materials are the same as 'component x'. That's all. Then duplicate the elements while your 'component y' is active and select the elements from 'component x'. So all the duplicated elements goes to your new component.

Thanks for your answers guys, but I'm still missing things:
MVASS:
1) There is no possibility to do a 'translate' with 0 displacement. It doesn't work.
2) To use 'Tool --> Translate' you need Blocks. I don't have blocks.
2) Even if you do a translate, there is no 'copy' or 'duplication' of the elements. The 'Translate' option is just a movement from A to B.
HEXAGON:
What I'm needing is the precise explanation of what you call 'DUPLICATE'... I can't find that action in the menues...
Thanks

Sorry my bad! Create a new component. Make new component as the default. Then Tool-->Translate, select elements and THEN: click again on elements and select duplicate. Select 'current comp'. Your elements will be duplicated and associated with your new component. Now you can follow the rest of the instructions given in the previous answer.
Sorry again for the mistake.

When in the translate menu, the program wants you to select the elements, surfaces etc. and when you click on the yellow selection box it asks you to how to select the things. Just in there there is an option 'duplicate'. There are some other options, too about how the selecting will be done. When you select the elements first and then press that yellow selection box again you could select duplicate option. And then it will ask you that where you want to duplicate elements (to the current component or to the original component).
