Hi,

I had a course for Hypermesh with the Abaqus-solver. We build screws in Hypermesh and used the Pre Tension Section to get tension on the screws. Now I´m using Radioss and searching for something that could be used as easy as the PTS tool.

Thanks, Daniel

    Daniel,

For Radioss block format you have to use spring element. Use cardimage p32_SPR_PRE (/PROP/SPR_PRE) for the property. Then use spring2n to define the spring element. The force in spring elements is the pretension force.

If you are using Radioss bulk you have to use contacts with correct option to allow two contacts separated by a distance to come closer at the end of the simulation. The pretension force is based on the gap (PL/AE = delta).

    Thanks

    Ram

RKD, can you give an example of 'attractive contact' that creates the tension? The help for pretensioned bolt is qualitative but an example for linear and non-linear (nlstat) would be most helpful.

    Hi,

just in case you are using RADIOSS Bulk format and speak German: There was recently a Webinar on 'Modellierung von Schraubenvorspannungen in RADIOSS mit HyperMesh'. The recording is available her:
