I am analyzing a structure that when it deflects will interfere with its self. This is an integral part of its operation. How can I model it so when the two parallel surfaces deflect and collide the analysis takes into account the collision, and the two parts dont just pass through eachother. I havn't been able to find anything helpful in the help or tutorials. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks

This is not a HM question.

What you need is contact definition which is applied in different way for most of solvers.

You need to ask this question in area dedicated to your solver. OS? RADIOSS? or whatever else.

    Good Luck

Hey Jobman, I am having the exact same problem? Did you find a solution? I think using a gap is a option and then doing a non-linear analysis. Have not tried it yet though. Will let you know when i do.
