How to make a .bdf file?
Hi! I'm sorry i have a lot of questions about the software.
1)I wanted to make a .bdf file in hypermesh is it possible?
2)I wanted to import a step file and convert it into an .bdf file.Is it possible to do that?
3)I wanted to reduce the number of nodes from an imported .bdf file.Is there a way to do this?

Hi Manoj,
If you are using HyperWorks student Edition, it is not possible to export FE data to .bdf (Nastran format).
If you have complete HyperWorks suite go to preferences and set the user profile to Nastran, then import the step file using File Menu>> Import Geometry.
Next, mesh the model and export it to .bdf format.
3) In order to reduce the nodes you may have to increase the element size during re-meshing.

BDF file is Nastran's input data. So this file format contains only nodes, elements & BC for FEA, no geometry information.
So when you import BDF you have no geometry from which the mesh is created. If you want to reduce the number of nodes you have to remesh the part without geometry. It's NOT easy at all if the geometry is complicated. The good (and easy) way is look for the original geometry, import into HM and remesh.
