Exporting Solver Decks to Hypercrash

Hi,

I'm doing some crash simulation for the impact attenuator in the formula student competition. The attenuator comprises of two different components made of 2 different materials.

I have set the models up in hypermesh with 2 separate components and export the solver deck in the nastran format. However when I import into Hypercrash it has merged the two components into one solid mesh. What am I doing wrong?

Maybe you should try to export your model as a *.rad (block 100 data) and then you could easily import it into the HyperCrash without no problem (you should do some checks of course in HyperCrash through the model checker).

Why did you prefer to export it as a nastran model and then tried to import it in HyperCrash, I could not understand it? Will you plan to use nastran solver? If not you could prefer radioss block 100 and radioss solver.

I'm pretty new to the software and am self-teaching it using the built in tutorials. All of these use nastran format so that's why I followed them.

Just tried exporting as radioss block 100 and I get the error 'Name not found in attribute database'. As I say I'm pretty new to this so I've no idea what this means, any help is appreciated /emoticons/default_smile.png' alt=':)' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' width='20' height='20'>

well, try to change the template first from nastran bulk to block 100, and then update the element types from 2d>element types>select all 2d&3d>update, same to the all 1d elements, then export it. But do not forget to check your properties and materials and connections (rigids etc.) just before exporting.
