differences between the pattern grouping modes
Hello at all,
during a topology optimization i wanted to add a pattern grouping to get symmetry.
But i ´ve got the same results in 1-plns sym, 2-plns sym and 3-plns sym. So i can´t see the differences between the pattern grouping modes and how to use them correctly.
Please, is there someone who could explain the different types of pattern grouping and their fields of application?
Thanks a lot!

Hi
1-plns sym => make 2 groups
2-plns sym => make 4 groups
3-plns sym => make 8 groups
their field of application is what you want: if you want your structure has 2 similar groups => use 1-plns sym, 4 similar groups=> use 2-plns syms, ...
if you want axial sym => use 'cyclic'
