hi,

i have this simple problem solved in Ansys which includes shell181, pipe16 elements...

the same i wanted to solve in radioss(right from scratch i .e importing model and extracting mid-surface in HM etc.)

i have done with shell but dont know how to simulate pipe connections from adjacent plates?

in ansys we have this pipe connections to simulate the bolt connections.

Please help.

Pavan

    Hi Pavan,

Can you tell us more about how the pipe connections work in Ansys that you are trying to replicate? Or are you just wanting to simulate a bolted connection.

Are you using Radios bulk or block format?

    Thanks,

    Andy

I would use a connector in HyperMesh to do this.

Take a look at this section of the HyperMesh 11 help,

HyperMesh > Connectors > FE Configuration File: OptiStruct Connector Types

Optistruct and Radioss bulk share the same format and solver. There are quite a few different types of bolted configurations to choose. Hopefully you can find one that is similar to the way you were doing it in Ansys.
