Hypercrash with composites
Hi,
I'm working on my university thesis, and I'm designing a composite impact attenuator nose cone for my Formula Student team.
I've already done the tutorial with the bumper: http://training.altairuniversity.com/2013/09/new-tutorial-crash-bumper-analysis/
How can I set plies and laminates in Hypermesh and export the RADIOSS block file to run a simulation in HyperCrash? It is important for me to set the materials, properties and plies in HyperMesh and not to mess with them in HyperCrash. Is it even possible to set the stacking sequence in HM, then use it in HC? I don't see the laminates and plies.
No matter what I do, everytime I change the material (I even tried with the working bumper model) I got #59 and #61 error messages when running a check simulation in HyperMesh.
Thank You,
Zsombi

Hui Zsombi,
Are you dealing with shell elements?
then , you can use PROP/TYPE10 to model composite with MAT/LAW25 as material card.
Please refer to help for more options for modelling composites.

I realised it is impossible to export the stacking sequence made in HyperMesh to Radioss, so I found out I have to do this in HyperCrash. So it is working now, but I'm really sad that this option is not available.

Hi Aecyd,
I am not in which user profile you have made the stacking sequence.
When you say stacking sequence are you referring to ply based modelling using HyperMesh in OptiStruct user profile.

Hi,
As the preprocessing for HyperCrash simulation must be done in RADIOSS profile, I used RADIOSS, but I would have liked to make the ply based modelling you mentioned in this profile too, but unfortunately I don't think it is possible. My goal would be to export a RADIOSS file to HyperCrash, where I wouldn't have to mess with materials, properties and plies, as setting up these is more easier in HyperMesh.

Hi aceyd,
Ply based modelling may not be possible in the current version of RADIOSS. I shall create a future enhancement request for this.
