Part total strain energy
Is it possible to compute part total strain energy for linear static sub case?
I can get element strain energy, but am unable to compute strain energy for whole part.

Hi Ashish,
Create a element Set for the part or component you are interested in.
When you are creating ESE card in control cards, change ESE_V1 to SID and call the element set in SID.
This will contour Strain energy for the elements in that particular component.

Hello Prakash
Thanks for the reply!
I got contour of strain energy for individual elements as per above method.
What I need is the total strain energy for a part, with or without the contour for individual elements.
Please see the attached image for elemental contour plot I got.
In place of individial element, I require total part strain energy.
The analysis has one part only.
Thanks
Ashish

Prakash,
I need to sum up the element strain energies to obtain one value for total part.
Please refer the following link:
In the video in above link, individual parts are isolated based on total strain energy, in place of element strain energy.
That allows for part identification based on particular values (again, total strain energy).
I require Total strain energy as that needs to be filled in another equation for subsequent calculation..

Ashish,
The video in the link you provided also explains how to sum the elemental strain energies of a part to get the total strain energy of the part.
Once in the expression builder, just use BCElemtopart, hide default arguments, enter straine energy and replace the syntax avg to sum.
You can then quick query the component (right click > quick query > component) to display the value of each component.

Hello Prakash!
The simulation shown in video link is for modal analysis, while I am trying to get strain energy for linear static analysis.
Further, the 'operator' tab in expression builder shown in the video link has Model as a drop down option, which I do not get in the analysis run I do for linear static.
Is there some control card that needs to be applied to get such operator?
Thanks,
Ashish
