Hi All

Need some help again

Currently I am running model with metal strip (Bus Bar Tab thick_0_3mm) deformed by loaded by applicator (Applicator) (prescribed disp).

After some deformation Metal strip will make contact  with bottom plate.

However my contact between metal (Bus Bar Tab thick_0_3mm) strip and bottom plate  (Cell surface) not working (tried few diff things but no successes).

Any help much appreciated (file attached model file and *.ppt for load & BC).

Regards

Kash

    Hi Prakash

    I tried with PCONT with GPAD=NONE & STIFF=HARD & SOFT options

    but contact did not work again

    Regards

    Hi Kash,

    The problem is with the contact surface normals.

    Please check the normals and try again.

    Suggestion: For Interface Cell_To _Tang_New create a node set for slave and contact surface for master and use the same to create contact

    Hello,

    Is this problem coming due to edge to edge contact being created due to the application action. In optistruct, help file it is mentioned that this CONTACT (of optistruct) will not consider the edge to edge scenario.

    I thought this might be the reason and if so then Radioss needs to be used for solving which has this capability with TYPE 19 interface.

    Hi Gopal,

    Could be, but at very first, the contact interface is not defined properly.

    If you look at the contact surface normals, they are not facing each other. So instead one can use N2S contact type with slave defines as node set.

    你的模型有以下几个问题:

    1、  Cellsurface的属性与面法向组合有问题,该面的属性为 bottom,但是法向确是向上的。正确的组合应该是:top,法向向上,或者bottom 法向向下。

    2、  Cellsurface Busbartang 接触对[cELL TO TANG_NEW]的设置问题:

    1) 法向问题:你用的是 接触面 设置的接触,那么两者的法向的方向应该是相对的;

    2) DisCret问题:N2S,还是 S2S

    3) SrchDis的问题:无论你是 N2S还是S2S,该选项搜索的是节点到主面的距离,故你的设置中该值偏小,只需要稍微改大即可。

    Your model has the following problems:

    1.    There has problem between The Properties of the Cellsurface and the normal of Cellsurface, the ZOFFS of Cellsurface properties is Bottom, But normal is pointing up.

    The correct combination should be: top, normal pointing up,

    or bottom, normal pointing down.

    2. The contact Pair Cellsurface and Busbartang [cELL TO TANG_NEW] settings:

    1) Contactsurfs normal problem: you use contactsurfs for the contact, then the direction of the contactsurfs (Master and slave) normal should be relative;

    2) DisCret problem: theN2S, or S2S ?

    3) SrchDis problem: whether you're N2S is S2S, the search distance all is between node to the Master Sur. so you set the value small, only slightly modified.

    If the normal direction of elements is corrected and contacts are recreated the contacts surface normals problem will vanish.

    Or

    Adjust the contact normals.

    If you are not sure about the SRCHDIS, keep it to Auto let OptiStruct take care of it :)/emoticons/default_smile.png' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' title=':)' width='20'>
