Hello, everyone.

I am a new student using Hyperworks 11.0 Block Format to make thermal buckling simulation.

I always meet this error below.

ERROR : TIME STEP LESS OR EQUAL DTMIN FOR SOLID ELEMENTS

What does this error mean?

I used MAT1 ELAST and P14_solid for Property.

When I checked the HEAT_input in the MAT1, this error will occur.

I need thermal expansion to make model buckled. I need /HEAT/MAT and /THERM_STRESS/MAT.

So I think I have to check the HEAT_input. Is this right?

Could you tell me what cause this problem?

Thank you so much.

    Hi,

Have you included any ANIM/DT card in your model?

in the <filename>.out file you should see the time step value and solid element IDs, based on that time step value can you increase the number in the ANIM/DT and check if you get the same?

if you still get the error, please share the files with us.

use the dropbox ID below to share the files.

    Dear PrakashPagadala

Thank you for your always kind help.

But I still get the same error ( TIME STEP LESS OR EQUAL DTMIN FOR SOLID ELEMENTS) , even I have increased the ANIM/DT.

I checked the <filename>.out file. I found the mistakes below.

    WARNING id : 758
** WARNING IN FORMULATION FLAG (SOLID)
SOLID FORMULATION 24 IN PID 1
IS ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH 8-NODE HEXAHEDRON,
    SOLID FORMULATION HAS BEEN CHANGED TO DEFAULT;

What does this mean? Where is the mistake?

I want to make thermal expansion to cause a plate to buckle.

I set just a part of the plate for a high temperature.

I used MAT1 and the keywords HEAT/MAT. I also used the imposed temperature.

There must be something here but I do not know.

The dropbox ID you told me to upload the file is available in my Internet.

Could you tell me other ways to give you my <filename>.out file?

    Thank you so much.

    Best wishes.

the solid element formulation used in Property with ID 1 (Isolid in PROP/SOLID) is compatibile with 8 node hexa elements but not with 10 node tetra or any other elements and this was switched to default.

do you have /DT in your engine parameters? compare that value with the DT value in .out file. if the /DT value provided in engine is more than DT value in out file, then drop the /DT value below the DT value from .out file

please use the link below to share the engine .out file (filename_0001.out)https://ftin.india.altair.com:8443/filedrop/~BDR1DN
