How can I modify BAR element to be deformed with 'tension only'?

I will make a FE model of a cervical spine with ligaments. I will model the ligaments to be 1D elements and want to modify them to be deformed with 'tension only.'

Would you suggest the process to prepare this model? How can I do that?

Use gap elements overlapping with each bar element. Set Ka=1e20 and Kb=1 -I hope you'r not workin on micromechanics - for the PGAP property. System will act like rigid at compression loads and represent a natural bar element behavior at tension loads. Select FLIP from Card Edit-CID Options for reverse.
