Solid Mapping issue
Hello,
I am trying to 3D mesh this solid part by using solid mapping. I tried 'trim with surf' to make the part mappable but I don't think I can create surfaces/divisions good enough for solid mapping.I am also attaching the partially trimmed version. Which method I should follow to make the rectangular sides mappable and get rid of the red layer in the cylindrical part?
Thank you in advance,
Muge

Hi,
I would personally start with trimming the solid from one end into small portions and making it mappable and rest will be manually meshed /emoticons/default_smile.png' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' title=':)' width='20'>

Its all about how you are splitting parts & geometry complexity. If possible please share hm file.I would give a try.

Thanks for sharing files.
95 % of mesh i was able to achieve by using solid map. Few region i didn't spend much time for splitting. There you can drag elements manually.Let us know if it helps.

Hello Rahul,
Thank you so much for your help.
I was able to drag the elements nicely except the part with the curve. The elements didn't fit nicely when I used element dragging from a source surface to a destination surface. Some void remained on the geometry, what would you suggest to drag the elements nicely?
As far as I understand, you did not use split by surf option, but you introduced temp nodes and used quick edit>split surf by nodes. node to node or node to line. But then, how did you solid map these parts? I was not able to select the splitted parts for mapping, it kept selecting the entire geometry and did not allow me to solid map.Thank you very much, I appreciate your help.Regards,Muge0 -
I might have figured it out, is it possible that you 2D meshed the sides and the top part, and then used 'line drag' to mesh the rest?

Hello,
Thank you so much for your help.
I am still a little confused about splitting. What I understand is:
1) You created temporary nodes and divided the geometry into small pieces.
(However at this point, some regions are still not mappable.)
2) Then how did you split those regions so that they become mappable? Did you use solids edit>split by nodes?
When I do split by surf or lines, I either get the shape in the picture or an 'internal error'
Also, how did you complete the circle on the bottom plate? I tried 3 point arc but did not work, the curve was not smooth.
Thank you so much,
Muge

I could try this if you accept to share your model.

Thank you so much for your offer, I now have the fully splitted model however I am trying to understand how it was done.
Thanks,
Muge
