Hi, when running optistruct analysis on a aluminium honeycomb composite which is simulating three point bending I received this error:

A fatal error has been detected during input processing:

  *** ERROR 14: Missing      MAT #    1 referenced by     PLY # 5,
(existing MAT with this ID is of incorrect type).

But when I changed the property from PCOMPP to PSOLID as was stated in previous forum posts I got another error message. I don't know what I am doing wrong any help would be great! I have attached the model file.

Thanks, Neel

    Hi Neel,

You are using a material solid which is only compatible with solid elements but you have shell elements. Use Mat8 instead of MAT9 ORT for honeycomb.

Hi Prakash, I also want to see the stress in the Y plane along the model. But I don't understand what these specific choices mean. What is XX, XY, ZZ? Which do I choose if i want to see the stress in the Y plane along the composite. I have attached my model file and screenshot of what I am confused about. Thanks, Neel

    Hi @neelc14

XX meaans stress in X plane due to force acting in X direction. This is a normal stress. So if you want to plot Stress in Y plane due to X force then plot in YX (which will be shear stress)
