Hi,

I would like to optimize 1 D Truss  (Sizing Optimization), I do not know,  how can I define the design variable in HyperWorks (in OptiStruct), for example, cross-sectional parameters (R, a, b, h). or Length...

thanks for your help

    Design Variable

    • The parameters, properties, or elements that OS can change to achieve different responses

    • Prototypically usually an entire part or a significant part feature

    • Represented in a trade diagram as the area or n-dimensional volume of the plot

Please find the attached images to help you out.. May it will be helpful to you.

     Hi,

You can link PBEAM or PBEAML (if you are using 1D elements) as a design variable in Size panel,

you can either change the cross sectional area or moment of inertia to change the cross sectional parameters.
