I am looking to perform airbag simulations involving the inflation and shock attenuation of the airbag. I have seen that RADIOSS has been used for this but can't find any guides to get me going. Is there anyone who has had experience modelling airbags using RADIOSS that could offer me some advice or point me in the right direction?

    Hi,

there is quite a few literature available on RADIOSS help documents regarding modelling airbag using HyperWorks tools.

Please refer to: Altair RADIOSS > User's Guide > Explicit Structural Finite Element Analysis: for airbag modeling

there are few examples and tutorials as well. Please refer to the example: Example 4 - Airbag in HyperWorks help documents.

I hope this will be a good starting point for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Dear Prakash, i'm trying to model an airbag, following example 4-airbag you indicated. I'm trying to implement an acceleration sensor to the airbag, but the airbag seems to ignore it.

here what i did: i create an acceleromer, then a sensor type 1 which takes as input the accelerometer and set the Tomin1 to a value; then in the airbag control card, in the Njet section i indicate the sensor in the 'sensor_ID' field.

the problem i have is that even by putting very very high trigger values (that are not reached during the simulation), the airbag deploys in any case.

    What am I doing wrong?

    thank you

    edit: i found the solution

    Hi Matteo,

Please try by selecting the card image as accelerometer and select the node.
