Hi,

I wanted to start a linear static analysis and got the following error:

.................................................

A fatal error has been detected during input processing:

  *** ERROR # 2781 ***
The number of grids in FEM model - 16424590, exceeds the maximum
  limit - 14000000.

*** Run terminated because of error(s) in the input data.

.................................................

It seems that there are too many Nodes (I want to use 2nd order elements). I absolutly need this large amount of nodes. How can I start the analysis anyway?

I DON'T use the student version by the way....

Wow ! I would like to know this limit too. Is this true?

It's so big model. maybe version 14 will support

anyway try to coarsen your model, just make fine at some critical areas (you may guess where they are, or after first analysis you saw them)

With  16424590 nodes, if I consider 3D mesh, each node has 3 DDL, so your model has :

    16424590 * 3 = 49273770 DDL

    I just say wow!

    How about your hardware?

    Hi,

You can try DEBUG option to bypass the error. But still >16M nodes is a huge model :D/emoticons/default_biggrin.png' srcset='/emoticons/biggrin@2x.png 2x' title=':D' width='20'>

This sounds interesting, what exactly would I have to do? The number of elements is needed due to a very complex geometry with a lots of fine structures, which will be produced with AM. With 1st order elements and using the iterative solver the problem is solved <15 min with around 12 mio. elements. There isn't really a possibility to choose larger elements in specific areas if I want to approximate the geometry in a good quality (having 3 element 'rows' per dimension, very fine structures).

My question for Altair: is there a hard limit of 14,000,000 of nodes really ?

...Or is there a possibility (DEBUG???) to work around 14 mio. nodes limit?

I tried it with the new 14. but the 14. Mio node limit still exists.... IS there a way to go around this problem?

Instead of asking and asking again it would be realy nice if someone just says YES or NO.....

Sorry  for the late reply.Yes 14M node is the limitation.
