Hello Everybody,

I am trying to convert a shell to a solid, using aerospace optistruct porfile. After realizing all plies the instruction says the §D Element Types have to be converted from SC8R to SC6R. The problem I have is, that, in the element panel there is no SC8R type, but in the Help Document i is stated, that the shell to solid conversion is supported by optistruct solver.

Can anybody help me with this problem?

Kind regards in advance

Dean

    Hi,

Are you doing this for a Abaqus deck?

In such case you can choose Abaqus Aerospace profile.

    Engineering solutions>> Aerospace>> Abaqus.

SC6R is an abaqus element type.

    Hi,

no I am doing this for Optistruct Deck. Is there a different type to change to, if I am using optistruct?

In the user guide is explained, that the tool 'shell to solid conversion' is supported for nastran, abaqus and optistruct and that the element type has to be changed in the manner explained above.

    Kind regards for your help
