Hi,

How do I assign in the property collector that it is a design volume or a non-design volume?

and also, do I have to put loads in different collectors?

Hi, your question is not clearly

if you want to indicate that a property is 'design space', point to it in DTPL/DTPG/DSIZE card (on panel analysis>optimization>topology, topography, freesize => click on 'property' and select your property as design volume

all remained properties  that you do not select => become 'none design'

You should put loads in different collectors if the loads have different card image (for better organization), finally create a load collector that have card image 'LOAD' that points to all your sub load collectors. This 'LOAD' collector is pointed by loadstep, so you can make many cases of analysis depend on combination in 'LOAD', and solve them once running

    Thank you.

What I meant by putting loads in different collectors is that I have two sets of loads applied in two different components (each component is subject of forces and moments), so I created 3 load collectors, one for each component and the third one for the constraints. So, should I put the forces and the moments in different load collectors for each component or I can put all the forces together even if they are applied in different parts?

Then, I have to make the Load Steps... Again, should I put two load steps for each case, or I can make only one load collector and only one load step?

Where can I read about the card images? I see there are a lot but I don't know when to use them.

Yes you should put forces and moments in different load collectors for better data-organization,

but put them in 1 collector also OK (no error), regardless they applied on different parts

loadstep is load case, so if you want to analyse 2 cases of loading,  create 2 loadsteps, if case 1 is force loading and case 2 is moment loading then exactly you have to separate forces and moments into 2 load collectors

    Thank you,

I've put the forces and the moments in different collectors and different loadsteps, but now I'm getting this error:

    *** ERROR # 2148 ***
     Invalid design problem.
All the sensitivities of response 2 (objective) are zero.

And I also have this warning:

    *** WARNING # 1955
Static Loadcase 2 has zero static force vector.
This typically produces zero solution and zero compliance.

Loadcase 2 is the moments loadcase, and the response with id 2 is a response of total compliance.

I don't know how to fix it, thanks for your kind help.

    Hi,

I think the problem is with the moment applied. you have moment applied on solid element node where 3D elements have only 3DoFs.

Try creating an RBE2/RBE3 and apply moment on them and run again.

Hi! I cannot see the mass of my resulting (final iteration) design space. I see the mass of the volume fraction response, but I also don't see that this response changes through iterations. I made a constraint on volume fraction and put an upper bound to 0.5 of the initial volume. From what I read on one of your tutorials, this means that the solver is constrained to go under this value of volume fraction.

How can I measure the mass of the final iteration? And is it right that the volume fraction is not changing? I will attach my output file. Thank you for your help
