Size Optimization on a part with Solid Mesh

Hello,

 

I am trying to do a size optimization on a component with PSOLID. The manual I have been referring explicitly states that size optimization has to be done on either 2D or 1D. 

 

But I have been asked to do size or gauge optimization on a model with solid mesh. Is there any way that I can achieve this?

Hi Kamath,

 

Size/gauge optimization is carried on either shell or 1D elements. 

 

If you are looking for material distribution using solid elements prefer topology optimization.

 

If you are looking for shaping the material, maybe consider using shape optimization.
