Topology Optimization with Composite Material
Hello!
I would like to run a topology optimization of a monocoque which is made out of composite material. There are many tutorials about the optimization of composites, but just the steps: Size, Free Size and Shuffling.
I thought PCOMPP would be nice for modelling. But this Prop is not supported by Topology Optimization.
What is the best way to solve this Problem and run a topology optimization with composites?
Best regards

Hi Domi,
Maybe you can use a PSHELL property with MAT8 card refered or use SOLID property with MAt9 or MAT9ORT.
Still, I suggest you to run a Free size optimization instead of topology. Free size looks thickness distribution of the shell elements

hi and thank you for your answer!
Yes, but I would like to start with the topology optimization. Free Size is more complex too..
I have seen that PCOMP(G) is supported for topology optimization. Are there any tutorials about this?

There are tutorials for modelling PCOMP(G).

Please refer attached manual on Optistruct for composites.I believe this would help.

Thank you for your help!
But because of my complex layer composition is using PCOMP(G) very time-consuming. Why is it not possible to run a topology optimization with PCOMPP?!
In the user manual is mentioned that PCOMP(G) and STACK (PCOMPP) is compatibel with topology optimization.
But not in HW:
