Scaling factor and units

Hello Y'all,

I have a question about units on Hypermesh.

So, my problem is that my model in Solidworks is in MMGS, but when I import it into Hypermesh and measure it I see its in meters there. (850 mm in Solidowrks and .85 in Hypermesh). I know I can use the scale factor and scale it by 1000 to get the model in MMGS, but does this mean I will have to change all my data for the material too. I am using the mm, s, Mpa, tonne unit system for data. And what units will my result be in?

Thank You

Saahir

    Hi Saahir,

Scale option is to increase or decrease an entity’s dimensions. Please recheck the material parameters and ensure they are in Tonnes, mm, sec unit consistency (For eg: For Steel density will 7.83e-9 tonnes/mm3). For this unit system the stress will be MPa, Energy will be N-mm.

Please go through the image which shows the unit consistency followed with example values.
