Check Element Thickness with Geometry

Hello all,

I'm working with a very large assembly and one of the issues I'm facing is checking the thickness of the elements with the thickness of the real geometry.

Is there a better way to do it than checking each component by visualization?

In my site, I have a script to measure thickness of CAD geom and assign to FE comp. But finally we have to check it one by one visually, too.

Man is very important, don't let scripts to decide anything.

That is old script for hm8.

From hm13 you use Midmesh Thickness (built in script) better.

Is there any script for assigning thickness to FE directly from CAD?

Hello.

I am the person in charge of CAE for large assemblies (shell parts) in the automotive industry.

Our company reads the CAD information (thickness values and material names) from the designer into HyperWorks as meta-information. Next, based on the meta information, we use a macro to automatically set the material and thickness of the CAE model.
This procedure synchronizes the information handled by the designer in CAD with the CAE model settings.

This is a bit off topic from "checking with actual geometry," but I hope it will be of some help.
