pre penetration and clearance property optistruct

Hello,

 

Is it possible to use the clearance property when initial pre-penetration occurs, in optistruct? I want to use the clearance option on two solid meshes that have initial pre-penetration. Does this have any affect on my contact results?

    Hi,

    I hope you mean to say interference fit in OptiStruct.

     

    There are two ways to create interference fit in OptiStruct

     

    Automatic fit - You can simulate the interference fit by setting the MORIENT card to OVERLAP in the CONTACT card, you need to create initial interference by overlapping the mesh. Find attached sample deck for the same (Files.zip)

     

     

    Fit by specifying an  interference value - You can also define the value in the CLEARANCE field of the PCONT contact property collector card, refer to PCONT.zip
