Hello,

I saw in the video tutorial by Apoorv that he uses Output block for dynamic analysis. But I did not understand why that should be used?

Can someone please tell me the purpose of using it? Or rather what happens when we create it?

    Hi Bongirs,

Output block helps you to output set of request (like displacement, reaction forces, etc...) to time history file.

What happens if we set it and don't set it?

If you set it, requested output will be written to T01 file and you can plot the variables in HyperGraph using the same T01 file.

If you don't set it, no output will be written to T01. T01 comes out with default variables.

Alright so the A files are independent of the output block? Output block is just for graph post-processing and has no effect on the simulation results?

Animation files (A**) are independent of output block. As Prakash mentioned ,output block helps you to output set of request (like displacement, reaction forces, etc...) to time history file.   A time history plot of the extra history variable can be created using Output Block
