Optimization of Door
Hello friends, i got a small project, anyone could help me with.
I have to optimize a door design, such that pressure is applied on one whole side of the door, while the constraint is small fraction of door sideways on which the door leaf is resting on the wall. its a simple door and every one could easily imagine it. Now i am begineer to the altair hyperworks, so please help me how could i optimize it, i have been doing it form a couple of time now, but could not do it, please guide me step me step , how would i do it ? i have attached the screen shots of the door, the red ones are the constraints and the blue are the arrows.
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
Please refer Optistruct online tutorials for topology optimization.

dear rahul, i have seen all the tutorials of Apoovr Bapat on youtube, but the problem persists. now i think i should tell you my problem step by step, please Rahul help me, now i did the meshing and applied the loads and constraints but i got the following problem,
*** ERROR # 1237 ***CQUAD4 element number 1 references a missing property ID 1or uses property of incorrect type for this element type.Error # 14 appeared total of 2414 times.tell me how to solve the problem ?0 -
Hi,
From error it is clear that Elements are not having the property. You would have created material and property collector.
Please update component collector with material and property with no card image. This should solve the problem.

i have assigned the material and properties to the components. My geometry also changes colours according to the material and property colours when opted for ... which automatic mesh should i use and then which property i should assign them ... i am using 2d mesh on one surface, then element offset in the 3D mesh , then i apply Psolid property ... please guide me, what should i do .??

Hi,
As you mentioned above that first you did the 2-D mesh then by using element offset you have converted those 2-D to 3-D and for 3-D element you have PSOLID cards aswell.
Please delete 2-D shell element which you have created in the beginning.Use delete :Element (By config): Select Quad 4 element and delete it.
Error is because of 2d elements property.
Note: Whenever you create 3-D elements using using 2-D, delete 2-d elements after creation of 3-D elements otherwise you would get same error.

Dear Rahul, i will sort out this problem, but now i am having the following problem, kindly help me with this problem ...
*** ERROR # 312 ***In static load case 1the compliance is negative or large 8.290002E+13Optimization/buckling analysis cannot be performeddue to possible rigid body mode

Hi,
Please find reply in below link.
Reason for rigid body mode could be because of Element connectivity in design and non design region. Before you run any model always apply free edges check.

Yup Rahul, i made it one body. now it is running but on 9 iterations and about 30% progress , it says OPTIMIZATION HAS CONVERGED.
FEASIBLE DESIGN (ALL CONSTRAINTS SATISFIED). but it does not give the desired results. My project is that, on one side of door, force is applied on the full door and on other side , the sides of door are fixed i.e. constrained .. i am attaching the screenshots and also i am attaching the hm files, Rahul kindly have a look and please run on your own pc and try to find the problem , i am on very tight deadline ... i could not attach hm file, i could only attach the screen shot

Hi,
It is recommended to have design and nondesign area.Sometime after topology optimization it may remove material from constraints & load location. Hence to avoid this we recommends to have design and non design area.
Since this is a first run for topology optimization we request to add some manufacturing constraint like minimum member size ,draw direction and symmetry constraint for better output.
I have attached snapshot of suggested topology optimization formulation.

Dear Rahul, is there any way, you setup one model and solve it with BC that i have explained, then i will be able to grasp some of my mistakes ...??
