Linear Static Analysis - Gear Strength
Hello Team,
I am working on the Linear Static analysis of Gear tooth Bending strength check.
Please see attached image of Analytical calculation and FEA Results.
FEA results shows the stress 10 times higher than the Analytical Value. I have used default values of E, Nu and RHO for material and Applied force in N.
Please review and let me know where am I making mistake in Analysis.

Hi Rahul,
Yes, I did check the mass and volume of the component. It is same as real life component.
Thanks for update. Will be waiting for your response /emoticons/default_smile.png' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' title=':)' width='20' />

Hi @JamesMech
Here are few suggestions from one of our experts:
1) Refine the mesh and make sure you apply the force on entire top face of the gear
2) Atleast 4-5 layers of elements along the thickness of the tooth to capture proper stress
3) If the displacements are huge, try with NLSTAT
Hi JamesMech,
I think the bending stress formula does not hold for linear static analysis.
Is it possible to share the model file with us?
