Transient temperature flow through material
Hello,
I am having difficultly to construct a model that shows temperature flow through a material. Attached is my model. I have one surface (bottom) at 100 degrees and initial condition of 25 degrees. It produces an output but it's not correct. Any ideas?

Hi @Tom.Mansell
Can you please follow the tutorial OS-T: 1090: Linear Transient Heat Transfer Analysis of an Extended Surface Heat Transfer Fin and check if this helps?

Hello @Prakash Pagadala
I've looked at the tutorial for guidance and that's got me to where I am now. That example is a lot more complicated than mine which may be why I'm getting stuck.
Any other guidance?
Cheers,
Tom

Attached is my latest attempted, following OS-T: 1090 example
I expect that at t=0 the temp of system will be 25°, as time increases the boundary where temperature is at 100° will slowly heat up transferring through the component, from x=0 to x=10.

Hello @Prakash Pagadala
I'm getting this error importing the model. Is there a way to open this file?

And that is what I am after, lets hope I can open it!

I can see what you have done and where I was going wrong thank you.
However, the model still won't run - see error message below.
There were 400 error messages during input processing.
The first message is repeated below:

Hi,
Looks like while exporting Property is missed out, sorry about that.
Can you check the component whether property is assigned or not,
If not, please assign the property and run again.

Thank you for your help, I will try develop this model further.
However, the model initial start temperature is 0, although set to 25?
When you load the model up it is correct on frame one/t=0, but as soon as its cycled through time it adjusts to 0° at frame 2
Cheers,
Tom

I think this is related to timestep setting.I tried with N=39 and DT=5.

Hello Rahul,
I have viewed the analysis you have completed however the same problem persists (Initial temperature of 0)
Cheers,
Tom

Hi @Tom.Mansell
Sorry, I completely missed this.
I tried modifying the model but still, I have the same result. Let me check with experts on this.

Any update on this?

We checked with experts and it seems the heat capacity on material is missing. We can add a warning in this case.
Also, pay attention to the following warning in the out file.
*** WARNING # 5062
Non-zero SPC will be considered as zero SPC for transient thermal
analysis, except when used to specify ambient point for convection.

Hello @Rahul R
Same problem with the heat capacity of material defined.
Thanks for the help but I'm still stuck here.

Could share the value of heat capacity defined in your model.

Please make sure that these units are consistent.BTW what unit system you are maintaining here.

SI unit systems,
Distance: mm
Thermal Conductivity: W/m°C = tonne.mm/s3°C
Heat Capacity: Jkg/°C = kg2m2/s2°C = tonne2mm2/s2°C
Density: tonne/mm3
Temperature: °C

Thanks for sharing the details with us. I had escalated this to the development team. I guess this must be a model specific issue. I will update you once I get any response from the team.
