Hello everyone,

I want to perform drop test using Optistruct solver. Is it possible to perform such kind of analysis in Optistruct if yes then please share some tutorials related to this topic.

Thanks

You can make use of geo-nonlinear ( Implicit dynamic) load step and define the initial velocity using ‘TIC’ bulk data entry.

We don't have any step by step tutorial for this requirement. See attached screenshot.

We do have tutorials for drop test using Radioss solver. Please check online tutorials for same.

I doubt whether it is compatible wih implicit dynamic but you can give it a try also check explicit dynamic anlysis type.

    Hello rahul and prakash,

    Thanks for solution.

Actually I am first time doing such kind of analysis and in help documentation there is no tutorial regarding implicit dynamics using Optistruct.

So please give me little more information about parameters which is software demands during loadstep pannel like IC, TSTENPL, XHIST and TTERM.

    Anuj,

Why dont you use RADIOSS explicit solver?

Though you can solve the drop test simulation using both implicit and explicit methods, dynamic drop simulation can be time expensive when you choose implicit method.

There are tutorials, and also dedicated drop test manager available if you choose RADIOSS.
