Greetings,

I was modelling a cover-gasket-base assembly (1/1024 axisymmetric model to save running time) using optistruct, with NLGEOM analysis type. I was following all the steps in the tutorial example I, hereby, attached, but could not get the Model contacting each other. Could anyone tell me what I did wrong in the modelling?

Thank you very much and Regards

    Hi Arifin,

What is your objective with the analysis?

Maybe you should include non linearity in the material for rubber for instance.

    Dear Mr Prakash,

We did use MATX42 (i have attached the model file in the first post btw). We want to measure the force required to compress the gasket by 2.25 mm, and check for the stress in the gasket also.

    Thank you and regards

So we have received the .fem file of the tutorial example, and it could run perfectly on NLGEOM. Now we copy and follow everything to our model (except we use double contact at the top and bottom surfaces instead of just one contact at the top), still the contacts are not activated on our model. Could anyone really tells us what we did wrong. Else I am suspecting the problem is with the software (either bug or whatever).

    Thank you and regards

    Dear Mr Prakash,

That is exactly what we want to see in our model. Could you please tell us what did you do with the model?

Thank you very much and regards

So the problem in your model is coming from the contact1 (could be because of contact stiffness)

I changed the contact type to Slide instead of giving PCONT with NIC 250 on NLPARM.

try the same at your end.
