Error running topology optimisation

Hi,

I've set up my topology optimisation to minimise the volume fraction and believe everything is set up correctly.

However when I try to run it I get the following error message:

'Unknown beamsection data type 'part_InitLengtangeLength' found in file.'

Does anyone know why I might be seeing this and how I might resolve it?

Thanks,

Luke

    Hi Luke,

Looks like you are using an OS which is not officially supported for HyperWorks (Mac OS 10.9 or above).

Please save the HM file and run on a Windows machine or have a dual boot using boot camp or parallels to run HyperWorks for windows on same machine.

    Hi Prakash,

I'm running the latest (full) version of HyperWorks Desktop and Solvers for Mac OS X. I downloaded and installed them from Altair Connect and then installed the latest hotfixes for both desktop and solvers. I'm also running the latest version of Mac OS (10.10.3) and XQuartz so I don't think there should be any problem with the software, are you sure that this error is a software problem not a problem with my model? I don't currently have access to a windows machine on HyperWorks so am unable to try running it on there.

    Thanks for the reply,

    Luke

    Luke,

HyperWorks is officially supported for MAC OS X 10.8 and Altair doesn't gurante that the application will work on MAC OS X 10.9 and above.

Please share the model and we will check if  we are able to run the model on HW WIndows OS for you.

Ok, I've sent you my model using the secure file dropbox.

    Luke,

I am able to run the simulation on Windows machine. So it has to with the Machine OS and not with the model.

on top of that, I can see that there are no beam elements in your model and the error refers to the beam section.

Also, the RBE3 in your model is organized under the component SKIN. Is it intended?

The RBE3 element is there simply to apply the force load onto the skin. It seemed most logical to organise it under the skin component  but I don't have much knowledge on the subject, would you suggest that I put it somewhere else?
