Size Optimization of Stiffened Plate.

Is there any tutorials available for Optimization of stiffened plate.

In my case my design variable is size of the stiffener and keeping dimension of the plate as constant.

And constraint is, max displacement of the plate should not go 1mm..

    Hi Mano,

     

    There are no tutorials available specifically for stiffened plates. But you can create a seperate property for stiffeners and use the same for size optimization.

    I modeled my stiffened plate like shell element with offset beam element.

    Am keeping my plate thickness as constant, i want to change my thickness of stiffener(beam element) but in generic relationship  there is no thickness variable.

    which one i should choose?

    The dimension depends on what type of PBEAM shape you are using. This below table may help

    1) Use OptiStruct Beam section in HyperBeam

    2) Use PBEAML instead of PBEAM

     

    the you will see more design variable params in size optimization.

     

    For HAT Beam shape each DIM# can used as design variable as shown:
