Hi, I have a solid cylinder and I need to get the stress results in cylindrical coordinate systems. I already defined a cylindrical coordinate system, but I don't know how to assign it to the elements.

I appreciate if someone can help me with this problem.

Thank you,

Soraya

    Hi Soraya,

You can assign the system using Systems>> Assign>> Nodes/loads.

Thank you very much Prakash, But I still have problem. The results that I'm getting in Cylindrical coordinate system are exactly the same as Cartesian system. I assume they must be different. Do you know why this is happening?

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Soraya

    Hi

with solid elems, stress tensor is output in material coordinate system (CORDM in PSOLID card)

But I think you don't need to assign it. in hyperview, just select the cylindrical system at 'Resolved in:' when plotting stress

if you assigned it to COORDM, let 'Resolved in' as 'analysis system'

Agree with @tinh, just used your cylindrical system in post-processing with Hyperview.

Yeah, while post-processing select this local cylindrical system in contour panel and check if that helps.
