Phisical, Visible Spotlights
How can I create a visible light? If I use the preset spotlight, it seems not to be visible neither to work...
I would like to create visible spotlights for a shelving unit. Should I use emissive materials instead?

Hi Pil,
You could definitely try out an emitter and see if that works.
When working with Lights, make sure you adjust the intensity of the light until you can see that the light is on.
For spot lights, Aperture adjusts the size of the 'spot', and fall off is the distance the light will travel.
When you create a light, make sure you place it in the right spot using all of your views so that you know it's in the right place. Spot lights have a direction, The spot light in Evolve has a control point for the origin of the light, and the direction the spot light is pointing.
Does this answer your question? Let me know if you need any more help!
Good Luck,
Peter

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your response. The issue I have with the emitter is that the light color emitted does not correspond to the color of the object itself. Lets say I want to have a bright red led, by increasing the emitter power it only changes the light emitted, and not the brightness of the emitter object itself. So the bright red led comes out only an opaque, dull orange. How can i change that?
(see render attached as reference of what i am getting now)
thanks a lot!

Hi Pil,
The spotlight should work unless the units of light is set to 'Unitless'.
If you place the spotlight inside a surface, it cannot travel through the surface. hence its important the lights are placed outside any surface.
Secondly, in Evolve 2015 the lights get hidden when you hide all curves using the Q shortcut. Please check if you have enabled hiding curves.
Thanks,
